Disbursement Rules
- The scholarship can be used toward any item within your school's Financial Aid Office's determined cost of attendance, which includes tuition, fees, room, board, books, personal/living expenses and transportation. The purpose of the scholarship is to supplement, not supplant, any federal, state or institutional grant or scholarship for which the student is eligible.
- Awarded scholarships will be submitted directly to the institution prior to the beginning of the Fall semester.
Eligibility Rules
- Applicants must have HS diploma (or on track to graduate within the year) or completed and passed the GED.
- Applicants must have maintained a 3.0 or higher GPA.
- Applicants must be African or first generation American of African descent.
- Applicants must be attending a fully accredited college or university in the United States.
- Applicants must come from a household with a total income below $50,000.
- We have no standardized testing requirements.
Application Rules
- Submit application online by May 15th, 2023 at 11:59PM EST.
- Additional materials (transcripts, income/tax statements, school acceptance letter, copy of birth certificate and birth certificates of parents if applicable, videos, etc) must be uploaded during the application or emailed to by May 15th, 2023 at 11:59PM.
A note: none of this information will be passed onto anyone outside of the foundation. Documents will be deleted on our end once they are verified. - Scholarships will be awarded by June 15th, 2023 and the awardees will be contacted directly.
- Responses submitted in essay form must be no shorter than 500 words and no longer than 1000. Submit as a PDF document.
- Responses submitted in video form must be no shorter than 3 minutes and no longer than 5 minutes. Submit in high quality MP4 or MOV format. Note: a media release waiver is required for video submissions.
